This is the perfect summer treat for your pooch to enjoy on a hot summer day! This is an excellent mental enrichment treat that will keep your dog cool, occupied and happy!
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups of Bone broth (chicken, beef, whatever your dog may prefer)
- 0.75 cups of cooked carrots, diced
- 0.75 cups of protein (this will vary by what your dog prefers, Dash likes venison or ham!)
- 0.5 cups of assorted other veggies or fruit
How To Make It!
- In a tupperware add your bone broth. The bone broth you choose is totally up to you and your pup! Dash doesn’t do well with chicken, so I use beef broth for him. This will become the base of your slushee. If you prefer to make your own bone broth, more power to you. If you like store bought, thats great too! As a working mom, I don’t always have time to make my own bone broth so I prefer to use Pacific Foods Organic Bone Broth.
- Once you have your base in a freezer safe tupperware, it’s time to add in everything else! This is the part where you get to work alongside your dog to pick out all their favorite foods! Dash loves cooked carrots, peas and blueberries. I also cut up pieces of ham, turkey or venison- depending on what I’ve got in the fridge!
- Add of all of these delicious noms into your broth base and if you are feeling particularly bold you could even add a handful of your dogs kibble.
- Once you have concocted your slushee, pop it into the freezer until it is frozen solid! Dash loves to lick these like a popsicle on a hot day outside. If your dog doesn’t love frozen solid texture, take it out of the freezer a bit sooner when it reaches a softer consistency.
- Make sure to lay down a towel or blanket, whether your dog enjoys their treat inside or outside, it tends to get a little messy!
- Enjoy and stay cool!
